In 1985, Jan de Rooy and a group of dealers saw an opportunity to organize a motorcycle party. The occasion was the cancellation of the MotoRai in Amsterdam that year, which provided the perfect opportunity to start a new motorcycle festival. The success was immediate with over 27,000 visitors.
After the initial success, it was decided to expand the fair. The following year, the event moved to the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, where more space was available. Over the years, the fair has only grown and improved. Originally a dealer fair, it evolved into a full-fledged motorcycle event with a wide range of brands and importers after MotoRai was discontinued.
Now, 40 editions later, MOTORbeurs Utrecht is still going strong. The upcoming edition will be an anniversary edition to remember.
Organizer Jan de Rooy and exhibitors from the very beginning—Arie Molenaar and Egbert van Drie (de Watertoren)—will give you a glimpse into 40 years of MOTORbeurs Utrecht.
With visitor numbers fluctuating between 90,000 and 100,000, the MOTORbeurs Utrecht is one of the largest motorcycle fairs in the Netherlands. Some exhibitors have been there since the first edition. This is testament to the rich history and continuing appeal of the event.
