The world of motorcycles is as diverse as it gets. Often they are designed for speed, style and performance, but every now and then creative minds let their hair down. This is how the five weirdest motorcycles ever were created!
- Dodge Tomahawk: An engine with a V10 engine block from a Dodge Viper and four wheels! This beast can theoretically reach up to 500 km/h, but above all it remains a bizarre eye-catcher. Incidentally, an expensive one too, as it was offered for a whopping $555,000. Reportedly, 9 units were actually sold.
- Rokon Trail-Breaker: Throw a Dax, a tractor and a dirt bike into a blender, and you get a Rokon Trail-Breaker. This crazy little motorcycle was built with "functionality" as its main focus. Proof of this are the large, hollow wheels that can even float on water. Perfect for rugged adventures, however, an oddity.
- Lamborghini Design 90: When you think of Lamborghini, you probably think of supercars. Yet the brand built a motorcycle in the 1980s. This rare and angular machine looked more like a sports car on 2 wheels than a motorcycle. Only a few examples were built.
- Ferrari 900: Although Ferrari itself did not burn its hands on it, a fan built a 900cc engine with the brand's permission. The result? A unique red racing engine, with a strange but intriguing appearance. It took a whopping 3,000 man hours to build the engine.
- Caterpillar Tracks Motorbike: In 1938 Caterpillar - the company best known for its heavy machinery for road, water and mining - built a "motorcycle" with tracks instead of wheels. This would allow you to drive this engine over the roughest terrain. The builders also called the strange machine the "tractor-cycle.
Some motorcycles are pure art on wheels. Others make you frown. Still, the engineering behind them remains insanely interesting. Which of these weird motorcycles would you like to try out?
